Meet the finalists: Team Greedy

We chat to Victoria from Victoria's Cake Boutique and Tamzin from Animal Crackers who are pairing up for the NomNomNom final as Team Greedy.

What makes you two the perfect NomNomNom pairing?

We can both take charge and step back in the kitchen in equal measure, so compliment each others’ styles. We are very old friends and can cheerfully be brusque as we cook and then settle down for a good old natter afterwards.

What impact do you think social networks and bloggers have had on the world of cooking and/or restaurant reviewing?

You can’t ring up Nigella and ask her why her bread recipe didn’t rise, but you can easily pop a question at the end of someone’s blog. Social networks makes information and ideas sharing more accessible – so if you’ve got a few random ingredients that you don’t know what to do with, someone in the blogosphere can probably provide you with inspiration.

In terms of restaurant reviewing you can get a more rounded idea of what’s good and be introduced to new and exciting places before they even hit the press.

Can you tell us about a memorable disaster you’ve had in the kitchen?

Victoria - I once put some sausages on the grill, and got distracted by a really rubbish rom-com on the telly. The sausages, along with the grill, went up in flames.

Tamzin – My disaster was the opposite, I had thought my stew was cheerfully cooking in the oven only the discover an hour later that the oven hadn’t been on.

Which ingredient can you not live without?

Victoria – Garlic. Garlic and salt because they make everything taste better.

Tamzin – I very rarely make any sort of a meal without using olive oil, but I don’t think any one ingredient is invaluable – it’s more about combinations of flavours and variety

And finally, what is the special element that will ensure that your team wins?

To be honest, we’re going to get to eat lots of delicious food – in our books that makes us winners. That and a hefty bribe.
